As Design Lead for a sponsored collaboration between BMW and SCADpro at Savannah College of Art and Design, I led the development of future-focused smart manufacturing uniforms for BMW associates. The goal of the project was to rethink traditional workwear and transform it into a system that could improve safety, comfort, productivity, and overall employee experience within manufacturing environments.

The project explored wearable technology integration such as smart sensors, interactive elements, power solutions, and adoption strategies to create uniforms that functioned beyond apparel. Instead of designing only for appearance, the focus was on performance, operational efficiency, wellbeing, and how uniforms could become a part of the larger workplace experience. Due to NDA restrictions, detailed process work and final deliverables remain confidential.

This project became one of the strongest examples of how my background in Fashion Design and my master’s in Design Management come together. My undergraduate experience in fashion design helped me understand garment construction, functionality, comfort, movement, and the relationship people have with what they wear. It gave me the ability to think about clothing not just aesthetically, but from a practical and human-centered perspective.

Design Management expanded that thinking beyond the garment itself. It helped me approach the project from a systems and strategy perspective, understanding how uniforms influence operations, productivity, employee wellbeing, adoption behavior, and long-term business value. I learned how fashion can move beyond product creation and become a strategic business tool. This project showed me that the strongest design solutions happen when creativity and business thinking work together, and it reinforced the kind of work I want to continue building in the future.

Precision under pressure is a skill you build and not one you arrive with. Two seasons of tight turnarounds taught me to stay exact when the stakes are highest.

Great styling is invisible. If the garment draws attention to itself for the wrong reasons, the job isn't done. I learned to always see through the camera's eye.

Managing a team in a live environment means reading the room constantly and knowing when to delegate, when to step in, and when to adjust the plan entirely.

KBC taught me that fashion at the highest level isn't about clothes but it's about trust, precision, and showing up completely prepared, every single time. I left two seasons knowing I can operate in any high-pressure environment and deliver.
